Small villages

50% of Norway´s population live in small villages and cities

Norway has a small population of about 5.5 million citizens, half of which live on the east coast region around Oslo. The rest of the population is scattered along the coast in hundreds of small cities and villages.

The country is sparsely populated, yes. However, you will find cosy thriving villages in all parts of our long coast line. Fishing, ship building and gaz/oil industry is part of the reason why settlement in Norway have not changed much since the 1850s.
