Tromsø is a city located in Northern Norway.
Tromsø is know as “Paris of the north” or “the gate to the Arctic Ocean”, and for being one of the best places in the world to observe the aurora (northern lights) and for it’s midnight sun. It offers a diversity of locations: City architecture, wooden houses, beautiful islands and mountains with city viewpoints.
In Tromsø you’ll find the famous Arctic Cathedral, and many old wooden houses, as the city centre of Tromsø contains the highest number of old wooden houses in Northern Norway. The Sami Culture is visible is Tromsø, as the area is from old times a home to Sámi people.
Tromsø experiences a subarctic climate as winter temperatures are just cold enough to qualify and the summer season is short. One can see the midnight sun from about 21 May to 21 July, but owing to Tromsø’s high latitude, twilight is long, meaning there is no real darkness between late April and mid-August.
